19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hardcourt
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
Medvedev, a former world number one, has endured a difficult season, managing just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-term coach Cervara.
Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set victory over challenger Moutet.
This represents Medvedev's maiden championship since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard surface from that period of that year.
The win also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to win a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.
The player's defensive play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, striving to advance forward and play positively, supported by an improved serving game.
The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning 4 of the last five points to gain the advantage.
The pair traded breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his first professional victory, took control to push for a third set.
He saved four initial chances in a close third set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the win with a point at the net, with Moutet unable to handle a return after a lengthy match.
