'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Galbraith continues contest with City.

Ethan Galbraith grins broadly as he reminisces about the dramatic closing stages of Swansea's remarkable turnaround victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. The encounter wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative strike from distance, and his teammate quickly hammered in the rebound before racing off toward the crowd to mark the goal, with the crowd congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory sealed an unbelievable recovery given the Welsh side had trailed 2-0 deep into the second half. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. Galbraith explained, "There was a supporter sort of calling out and we were puzzled: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're individuals, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The result booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a team Galbraith pushed hard at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with Leyton Orient in February. He had a prime vantage point when his former team took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've credited him for attempting the shot from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he swapped shirts, and the attacker was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team attacked the game.

Opponent's Class

"Athletically they are very good but even the fundamentals and basic skills, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It appears that they complete every delivery and they know how to dictate and slow down a game. You can feel you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even spotting it. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It requires a tough attitude and focus just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

Swansea sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to bring him in in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He made a name as a fans' favourite across two seasons at Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in senior football on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a temporary move at fourth-tier Salford City, before he moved on from his boyhood club.

Learning Curve

"I was perhaps a slightly green going into men's football. I think many athletes would say development squad matches is very different. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to learn quickly."

International Recognition

He has shown that development for club and country, shining for the Green and White Army, who could still reach the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the past five games, including both legs fixtures against a football powerhouse. The ex-coach, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the ultimate compliment, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he handles the football and his eye for a killer pass.

Starting Out

This marks an incredible journey for the youngster from the local area in the Belfast suburb, just outside the capital, who grew up watching his father, his father, also a engine room operator, play for Ballyclare Comrades.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's sole appearance for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a European competition trip to the Kazakh capital, where they featured on an plastic turf and the arena covering was sealed owing to the weather of bitter cold. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he recalls, smiling. "The days leading up, myself and quite a few of the young lads worked out jointly, so that assisted our preparation. Just to accompany the senior squad and earn some playing time at the end was unbelievable."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to leave United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm hugely grateful for the experience gained but it became apparent where I believed I required a fresh start, move to a lower level and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Until recently to his new neighborhood, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a minibus driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which shuttles players to and from training and matches.

"My companions include the Portuguese player, another squad member, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's nice to spend time with the lads but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to stop using the bus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player is known for his humor; he's always up to all sorts."

Fan Interactions

While playing for Orient, Galbraith would travel alongside fans on public transport after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
